Anna Hall kicked off the USATF Indoor Championships in an impressive and historic fashion on Thursday.

Hall took home the national title in the pentathlon with a score of 5004 points, which set the American record in the event. Hall’s impressive score puts her No. 2 of all time in the event, as she was only nine points away from the world record that was set by Natallia Dobrynska in 2012. Hall is also the third woman in history to score over 5000 points in the pentathlon.

The only thing that is equally as impressive as Hall’s historic performance in the event is how she accomplished the remarkable feat. Hall won all five pentathlon events that she competed in on Thursday. Here were her marks and times in the five events.

  • 60mH – 8.04s
  • High Jump – 1.91m
  • Shot Put – 13.80m
  • Long Jump – 6.34m
  • 800m – 2:05.70

Last season, Hall won the NCAA Indoor Track and Field National Championship in the pentathlon last season, which was just the start of a historic season for Hall. She won the national title in the heptathlon at the NCAA Outdoor National Championships and then took home a bronze medal at the World Championships in Eugene in the event.

I’m a sports journalist based in Florida and I’ve covered a couple of different sports so far early on in my career, but I love the sport of track and field and the art of running. Everyone has a story and everyone has a story worth telling. My prayer is that the stories of the great athletes of this sport are told, and that the sport grows to new creative heights, so that the sport gets the respect it deserves.
