It’s now officially official for two of the best athletes that the sport of track and field has ever seen.
After breaking the world records in their respective events, Mondo Duplantis and Femke Bol’s world records in the pole vault and in the 400m have been ratified by World Athletics.
Duplantis once again showed why he’s the greatest pole vaulter in the history of the sport with another world record. He went undefeated in the indoor season and saved his best performance for his competition at Clermont-Ferrand.
On his third attempt, he successfully cleared 6.22m, giving him the world record.
Bol put aside the hurdles this indoor season and put her focus to the open 400m. After breaking the world record in the 500m early on in February, she lowered the distance and broke the 400m world record with her time of 49.26 at the Dutch Indoor Championships.
Her time not only broke the indoor world record in the 400m, but it was faster than her outdoor personal best time in the event (49.44) that she ran last season.
