Another day, another legendary performance from two of the greatest track and field collegiate athletes in the history of the sport. This time, the fast times were run in Gainesville at the Florida Relays.
Julien Alfred, who runs for the University of Texas, had a great two days of racing at the meet. On Friday, she ran a blistering time of 21.91 in the women’s 200m, which was a lifetime best, and a Saint Lucian women’s 200m record.
She followed up her record breaking 200m performance with another elite performance in the women’s 100m. Alfred won the event, running 10.72 (2.4+), which is one of the fastest times in all-conditions in the world this season.
Arkansas’s Britton Wilson strung together an impressive two days of racing as well, with her most impressive performance taking place on Saturday when she broke the NCAA record in the 400m with a time of 49.51.
Prior to Wilson breaking the collegiate record in the 400m, the talented hurdler made her season debut in the 400m hurdles. She won the event, running a collegiate-leading time of 53.23, defeating the likes of Anna Hall and Masai Russell.
