Courtney Frerichs is making a big change to start 2024.
The Olympic and world championship silver medalist in the women’s steeplechase announced on Monday that she would be leaving the Bowerman Track Club after seven years. She will now be coached by Amy and Alistair Cragg.
“After seven years, my time with the Bowerman Track Club has come to an end,” she said on Instagram. “This chapter has given me some of the greatest moments of my running career and some of the best relationships with teammates I will forever cherish. I have so much gratitude for the guidance Jerry, Pascal, Shalane, Colleen, and Chris have given me and their belief in me has been instrumental in the success I have had as an athlete. BTC is an incredibly special organization and I’m so thankful to have had the opportunity to be a part of it. I don’t think my 23 year old self could have ever imagined the journey that this chapter would be.
‘Griffin Humphreys has begun assisting Amy and Alistair Cragg and their team. They have offered their guidance in my training and their athletes have welcomed me with open arms. I am also so happy to be reconnecting with Pascal in the pursuit of becoming the best steeplechaser I can be.”
Following Courtney’s announcement, Bowerman Track Club posted, “Courtney reminded us to never stop dreaming. An Olympic and World medalist, Courtney is a fighter that won’t stop until she is satisfied. That fight goes on as she pursues the next stage of her career in North Carolina. Frerichs is the fourth athlete to depart the team since the end of last season, joining Grant Fisher, Cooper Teare and Elise Cranny, who is now with Team Boss.
