USA Track & Field has announced the team they will send to the Bahamas for the upcoming World Relays. These World Relays serve as the qualifying event for the Olympics in Paris.
Both the men’s and women’s rosters have notable entries, with World and Olympic medalists in each pool.
The World Relays returns to the Bahamas for the first time since 2017. The first three editions of the event took place in Nassau (2014, 2015, and 2017) before going to Japan in 2019 and Poland in 2021. Now in its sixth meeting, the 2024 World Relays will take place on May 4-5 and will consist of only 4x100m and 4x400m competitions. In years past, we have seen various relays, including a 4x800m, 4x1500m, Distance Medley Relay (DMR), and shuttle hurdles. Relays with distances beyond the 4x400m were last run in 2017.

From the 32 competing teams, the top 14 will automatically qualify for places at the Paris Games. There will also be repechage competition in each of the five relays contested, with teams who fail to make the final in Nassau being given another opportunity to earn Olympic qualifying status on day two of the meet. The finishing order of the top eight teams in each final at the World Relays will determine the first round seeding spots for the upcoming Olympics.
The United States team historically has performed well at the World Relays, owning both the overall medal count top spot with 31 (22 gold, 7 silver, 2 bronze), followed by Jamaica with 19 medals.
