Keely Hodgkinson, the Paris Olympics 800m gold medalist, has announced on Instagram that she has decided to end her season due to an injury.
The superstar from Team Great Britain said in the post, “No more races for me!! Unfortunately I picked up a small injury, but we achieved everything I had hoped to do this year, thank you for all the love and support!! see you on the track next year.”
This has in fact been an incredible season for Keely. After sitting out for indoor season and missing out on the world indoor championships to prepare for the outdoor season and the Olympics, Hodgkinson went on a tear during outdoors. She finished first in every 800m race entered, beginning at the Prefontaine Classic, then on to the European Championships and London Diamond League before the Olympic Games. She also set a new personal best and national record in the 800 meters, running 1:54.61 at Diamond League meeting in London.
