The 2026 TCS London Marathon set a new Guinness World Record for the largest number of marathon finishers, with 59,830 runners completing the race. That total surpassed the previous mark of 59,226 finishers set by the 2025 TCS New York City Marathon. Organizers highlighted the achievement as another milestone for an event that continues to grow in scale and popularity, with huge participation numbers from both elite and mass runners.
The record-breaking turnout added to what was already a historic day in London. Race organizers described the event as one of the greatest in the marathon’s history, combining elite-level performances with unprecedented public participation. The London Marathon has now reclaimed its place as the world’s largest marathon by finishers, reinforcing its status as one of the premier global road races. Additionally, the event is the world’s largest annual one-day fundraising event, with the 2025 race setting a record of £87.3 million. The 2026 event is estimated to have raised over £95 million.
