After being waived from the Philadelphia Eagles full 53-man roster on Tuesday, it was announced today that Devon Allen would continue to suit up on the team’s practice squad.

Allen first signed with the Eagles in April following a workout at Oregon’s Pro Day, vying for a spot on the roster at the wide receiver position. Allen had last taken a snap in 2016 while with the Oregon Ducks.

The preseason came with numerous highlights for Devon, wearing #39 for the Eagles. Perhaps the most prominent taking place in their second preseason matchup facing the Cleveland Browns, during which Allen hauled in a diving catch for a 55-yard touchdown in the third quarter. He followed the score with a hurdle-inspired celebration. The touchdown would ultimately put the Eagles ahead for the win.

Leading up to the NFL season, Allen put together a phenomenal season on the track. The 2-time Olympian was a consistent favorite at the starting line, earning 110-meter hurdle wins at the Penn Relays, the Paris Diamond League, and at multiple stops on the Continental Tour, including setting the third-fastest mark of all-time with a 12.84 at the New York City meet. His season ended with controversy around a false start during the 110-meter hurdle final at the Oregon22 World Championships.

We wish Devon all the best as he continues his NFL career with the Eagles and cannot wait to see what this season brings.
