Alicia Monson to Miss Rest of Season Due to Meniscus Tear

Share this article:

American record holder Alicia Monson announced on Instagram that she would miss the outdoor season due to an injury sustained shortly after The TEN last month.

”I was on a run when I felt a crack / pop in my knee…I eventually got an MRI that showed a medial meniscus complete root tear.”

Monson has been one of the most dominant distance runners in the country. She holds the American record in the 5k (14:19.45), 10k (30:03.82), and 2-mile (9:09.70) races. She would have been a favorite going into the Olympic Trials to make the Paris Olympic team.

Alicia is part of the On Athletics Club coached by Dathan Ritzenhein.
