At this morning’s BAA 5k, Cooper Teare and Foyten Tesfay earned victories on the streets of Boston.
Teare finished the race in 13:38, just ahead of Drew Hunter and Eduardo Herrera. Running as a pack from the start, 14 runners were within one second of one another at the first mile, a grouping which dwindled to a 8 by the second mile, and was a battle just between the eventual top-3 by the third mile.
In the women’s race, Tesfay lead from the start and never looked back, extending her lead with each mile, eventually breaking the tape in 14:45, 14 seconds ahead of second place finisher Emmaculate Acholi. Annie Rodenfels was top American in the race, finishing 4th in 15:08.
Add this to the 2024 victory list for Cooper Teare. He also won the USA Cross Country title in January.
The B.A.A. 5K course is a scenic tour through Boston’s Back Bay, taking participants down Boylston Street and across the Boston Marathon finish line. In total, the race is set at 10,000 participants.
