Lake Oswego High School’s standout sprinter Mia Brahe-Pedersen is likely out for the rest of her season, potentially bringing her high school career to an end.
Following a hamstring injury sustained in January, Brahe-Pedersen missed most of the indoor season. At the time, she posted to Instagram, “I got got a level 2 strain in my hamstring while competing at the Virginia Showcase 3.5 weeks ago. Recovery hasn’t been easy, but I’m committed to loving the process of reaching my dreams regardless.” Per an article on Oregon Live last month, Mia appeared ready to compete for outdoors, “She said she feels like she’s 90% of the way back to being fully herself and is expecting to be at 100% for the big spring events.” However, it was reported that ahead of the Pepsi Florida Relays, she had to pull from the competition as she seems to have reaggravated the injury, which also kept her out of the Sherwood Need for Speed Classic.
Already in her young career, Brahe-Pederson is a USA Championship finalist. At the 2023 USATF Outdoor Championships, she finished 7th in 100m and 8th in the 200m. At last year’s U23 NACAC Championship, she won three gold medals (100m, 200m, 4x100m), setting meet records in the 100m and 4×100 relay. Her personal best times are 11.05 seconds and 22.58 seconds for the outdoor 100m and 200m, respectively.
Brahe-Pederson is committed to the University of Southern California and has an NIL deal with Nike.
We wish Mia a full recovery, and should she in fact end up out for the rest of the season, we look forward to seeing her back in action with the Trojans.
