Track Speed Fantasy Football Recap: NFL Week 6

Share this article:

NFL athletes with track and field experience are putting up numbers each week. Below is a fantasy football week 6 recap of players who are on a roster and also have a background in track and field.

Highlighting this week is another incredible performance from the speed demons in the Miami line-up, with both Tyreek Hill and Raheem Mostert accumulating 20+ points. Also notable is Atlanta’s Kyle Pitts putting together his first 10+ point outing of the season (including his first touchdown), and Stefon Diggs of the Bills getting to the century mark in receiving yards earning him 10 fantasy points.

View below for a full rundown of stats and point totals from the past week’s fantasy action.

Marquise Brown
Wide Receiver, Arizona Cardinals

Caught 4 passes on 11 targets for 34 yards
3.40 points

It was a tough day production wise for the usually reliable Brown. Dobbs couldn’t get him involved early and it really hurt the Cardinals’ offense. Josh Dobbs had a chance to connect with Brown mid game on a deep ball, but Dobbs missed on the throw. Brown however, will continue to be the Cardinals’ top option in the passing game.

Trey McBride
Tight End, Arizona Cardinals

Caught 4 passes on 5 targets for 62 yards
6.20 points

McBride tied for the team lead in receiving yards with rookie wideout Michael Wilson and also matched veteran tight end Zach Ertz in terms of targets. One surprising development was McBride getting more offensive snaps than Ertz (44-35) in a game for the first time this season. McBride will look to build on the performance this coming Sunday versus a Seahawks defense that has surrendered the fourth-most YPC (8.8) to opposing tight ends in 2023.

Kyle Pitts
Tight End, Atlanta Falcons

Caught 4 of 6 passes for 43 yards and 1 touchdown
10.30 points

Pitts caught a first-down pass and a touchdown on the Falcons’ opening drive, but he was quiet after that. It was still another encouraging performance for the uber-talented tight end, who’s now tallied 11 receptions for 130 yards and a score over the last two games after totaling just 11 receptions for 121 yards and no touchdowns across his first four appearances of the season. While he’s trending in the right direction, Pitts’s production hasn’t been prolific yet this season, and there are still major concerns with his fantasy profile.

Lamar Jackson
Quarterback, Baltimore Ravens

Completed 21 of 30 passes for 223 yards and 1 touchdown, throwing 1 interception; rushed 13 times for 62 yards
21.12 points

While Baltimore struggled in the red zone, Jackson did hit Zay Flowers for a 10-yard score in the second quarter, and the quarterback was able to extend plays and drives with his legs as he led the Ravens in rushing. Jackson’s 5:3 TD:INT through six games isn’t much, but he’s completed at least 70 percent of his passes in five of those contests, suggesting better passing numbers should lie ahead once he’s fully comfortable with offensive coordinator Todd Monken’s new scheme. Next up in Week 7 is a home tilt against a Lions defense that’s allowed eight passing TDs through five games, a figure topped by only four other secondaries.

Devin Duvernay
Wide Receiver, Baltimore Ravens

70 yard punt return, no targets
0 points

Duvernay found a crease and sped his way for a 70 yard punt return against the Titans in their London match-up. He was chased out of bounds at the Tennessee 15-yard line, otherwise it would have been paydirt for the return specialist.

Stefon Diggs
Wide Receiver, Buffalo Bills

Caught 10 of 16 targets for 100 yards
10.0 points

Diggs stayed red hot with his fourth consecutive game recording at least 100 receiving yards. The 29-year-old has generated 620 yards through six weeks, which is good enough to land him among the top five in receiving yards leaguewide. Diggs wasn’t the recipient of either of Josh Allen’s late touchdown throws Sunday, but he deserves a pass after showering fantasy managers with four scores over the last two weeks. The star wideout could face double teams in coverage next Sunday as the Patriots try to slow Buffalo’s hottest weapon on offense, but Diggs remains a must-start in fantasy.

Ja’Marr Chase
Wide Receiver, Cincinnati Bengals

Caught 6 of 13 targets for 80 yards
8.0 points

Chase was unable to replicate his 192-yard performance from Week 5, but his target domination in Cincinnati continued this week. He saw 37 percent of Joe Burrow’s pass attempts. Chase now has three games over a dozen targets in three games this year. His target floor so far is eight looks. He will be eying 100 yards and a touchdown when the Bengals return from their bye to face the 49ers in Week 8.

Marquise Goodwin
Wide Receiver, Cleveland Browns

Caught 1 of 2 targets for 4 yards; 1 rush for 20 yards
2.40 points

Goodwin had his most productive day of the season but his role remains limited, and he’s managed just 49 snaps (13.1 percent share) through five games. However, he did get a season-high 20 percent of the offensive snaps Sunday, as rookie Cedric Tillman (hip) was inactive.

Elijah Moore
Wide Receiver, Cleveland Browns

Caught 4 of 7 targets for 19 yards; 1 rush for 8 yards
2.70 points

It was expected to be a quiet day for the Browns’ wide receivers with PJ Walker under center in place of Deshaun Watson (shoulder), and other than big numbers from Amari Cooper (108 yards), that largely held true. Moore’s seven targets were second behind Cooper and his 19 yards were fourth. Cleveland coaches envisioned the former Jet as a multi-position weapon during training camp, but that’s only showed itself in Moore’s target and touch volume. He’s second on the team with 36 targets and third at 29 touches (including eight rush attempts), but he has yet score a touchdown and is averaging just 35.6 combined yards per contest.

Robert Woods
Wide Receiver, Houston Texans

Caught 1 of 3 targets for 6 yards and 1 touchdown
6.60 points

Woods found a space between defenders in the second quarter on a third-and-goal for Houston’s second touchdown of the day. The TD was Woods’ first of the season. Nico Collins has become C.J. Stroud’s go-to option and leads the Texans with 547 receiving yards and three TDs, but Woods holds an edge in targets (43 to 42) and red-zone targets (six to three). The veteran wideout has 22 receptions for 227 yards after six games.

Devin Singletary
Running Back, Houston Texans

12 rushes for 58 yards; caught 1 of 2 targets for 4 yards
6.20 points

Singletary set season highs in both rushing attempts and yards. After a Week 7 bye, Houston’s Week 8 matchup with Carolina’s leaky run defense will present an opportunity for Singletary to increase production.

Clyde Edwards-Helaire
Running Back, Kansas City Chiefs

2 rushes for 7 yards; caught 1 pass on 1 target for 9 yards
1.60 points

Edwards-Helaire and Jerick McKinnon got just three touches apiece while Isiah Pacheco racked up 98 scrimmage yard on 22 touches, so Edwards-Helaire didn’t see enough volume to take advantage of facing Denver’s porous run defense. As long as Pacheco’s healthy, Edwards-Helaire will likely remain limited to a handful of snaps and touches per game.

Kadarius Toney
Wide Receiver, Kansas City Chiefs

Caught 3 of 6 targets for 9 yards and 1 touchdown; 2 rushes for -5 yards
6.40 points

Toney managed to salvage a night in which he gained all of four net yards with his three-yard scoring grab in the second quarter, his first regular-season receiving score in a Chiefs uniform. Toney has yet to eclipse 35 receiving yards in a game this season and has actually now recorded single-digit or zero yardage on three occasions, so despite his role in a prolific offense, he remains a speculative fantasy option for a Week 7 home matchup against the Chargers on Sunday, Oct. 22.

Gerald Everett
Tight End, Los Angeles Chargers

Caught 3 of 5 targets for 16 yards and 1 touchdown; 1 rush for 2 yards
7.80 points

Everett split time with Donald Parham, as they have been all season, after the latter was able to heal from a wrist injury over the team’s bye in Week 5. The veteran of the tight end duo had 5 targets to Parham’s 3, with each player getting a look in the end zone. Everett had the advantage there as well, bringing in his target from one yard out for a touchdown in the fourth quarter.

Tyreek Hill
Wide Receiver, Miami Dolphis

Caught 6 of 10 targets for 163 yards and 1 40+ yard touchdown
24.30 points

Despite missing some time while on the sidelines dealing with cramps, Hill still put up six catches for 163 yards and a score in Week 6 versus the Panthers. If Hill keeps up his current pace, he will shatter the record for receiving yards in a season. That achievement is currently held by Calvin Johnson at 1,964. Even if Hill’s pace slows drastically, he still has a good chance of setting the record. He is also a strong bet to win the receiving triple crown this year with Justin Jefferson on injured reserve and out of the running.

Jaylen Waddle
Wide Receiver, Miami Dolphins

Caught 7 of 9 targets for 51 yards and 1 touchdown
11.10 points

Waddle saw strong volume for the second consecutive week — he had only one fewer target than Tyreek Hill — and now has 19 opportunities across his last two games. Given the context of the Miami offense, he was surprisingly inefficient with the looks, though he did manage to find the end zone from four yards away, resulting in his second consecutive matchup with a score. Heading into a Week 7 contest against the Eagles, Waddle has clearly served as the secondary option behind Hill in the offense and has yet to top 86 yards in a game this season.

De’Von Achane
Running Back, Miami Dolphins

Achane continues his stint on the injured reserve, likely to be out until week 11

Raheem Mostert
Running Back, Miami Dolphins

17 rushes for 115 yards and 2 rushing touchdowns; caught 3 of 3 targets for 17 yards and 1 receiving touchdown
33.20 points

Mostert led Miami’s backfield with a season-high 20 touches, and he dominated opportunities when the game was in question. He used the additional volume to record his second 100-yard rushing performance of the campaign, highlighted by a long gain of 48 yards. Mostert also continued to benefit from the incredibly efficient Dolphins’ offense with his third multi-score effort of the year, and he now has 11 total touchdowns in only six games. That’s very unlikely to continue, and he could also have to share the backfield in Week 7 against the Eagles, as Jeff Wilson (ribs) appears poised to return from injured reserve.

Justin Jefferson
Wide Receiver, Minnesota Vikings

Jefferson continues his stint on the injured reserve, reportedly out 4-6 weeks with a hamstring injury

Jalen Reagor
Wide Receiver, New England Patriots

Reagor was elevated from the practice squad for Sunday’s game against the Raiders. He played 13 offensive snaps but did not record a stat. The 2020 first-round pick will now return to the practice squad and wait for another opportunity to be called up for action.

Chris Olave
Wide Receiver, New Orleand Saints

Caught 7 of 10 targets for 96 yards
9.60 points

After totaling just 11 targets over the previous two contests, Olave logged double-digit targets for the fourth time in six games this season. Three other Saints pass catchers logged eight targets, as quarterback Derek Carr was forced to put up a season-high 50 passing attempts. However, Olave was one of just two Saints receivers — alongside Rashid Shaheed — to accumulate over 50 receiving yards, who logged two receptions for 85 yards as well as the team’s lone touchdown catch. Meanwhile, Olave made up most of his yards in the short and intermediate areas of the field, as all but one of his receptions went for between 10 to 24 yards. Expect Olave and Michael Thomas (eight targets) to continue serving as the clear-cut top two receivers for New Orleans this season.

Mecole Hardman
Wide Receiver, New York Jets

Caught 0 of 2 targets
0 points

Trade rumors have been swirling around Hardman due to his lack of playing time, and while he got back on the field after being a healthy scratch for the previous game, Hardman remains stuck on one catch for the season. With a bye in Week 7, the Jets will have extra time to explore trade options for the little-used receiver, should they opt to go that route.

Garrett Wilson
Wide Receiver, New York Jets

Caught 8 of 12 targets for 90 yards
9.0 points

Wilson accounted for 90 of Zach Wilson’s 186 passing yards despite having a 25-yard catch erased by a blindside block called on Allen Lazard. New York’s top pass catcher was seen talking to trainers on the sideline in the fourth quarter and went to the X-ray room after the game, though head coach Robert Saleh noted that Wilson could have returned to the game, per Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic. Wilson’s availability for Week 8 against the Giants after a Week 7 bye doesn’t appear to be in question, but his participation in practice will still be worth monitoring once the Jets begin preparing for the intrastate clash.

Devon Allen
Wide Receiver, Philadelphia Eagles

Allen was called up from the practice squad for the second time this season for the Eagles matchup with the Jets. He did not record any stats while playing solely on special teams. Allen will return to the practice squad and await his next opportunity to be called up.

Kenneth Gainwell
Running Back, Phildelphia Eagles

2 rushes for 13 yards; caught 1 of 2 targets for 4 yards
1.70 points

Gainwell didn’t trail primary running back DeAndre Swift by a wide margin in snap count (40 to 29), but Swift had 10 carries to Gainwell’s two. That represented a season low for Gainwell, who’s now carried the ball a total of 13 times over the last three weeks after receiving 14 carries in each of the first two games of the year.

Jalen Hurts
Quarterback, Philadelphia Eagles

Completed 28 of 45 passes for 280 yards and 1 touchdown while throwing 3 interceptions; rushed 8 times for 47 yards and 1 rushing touchdown
23.90 points

Hurts’ three interceptions matched his previous career-worst mark, resulting in Philadelphia’s first loss of the season. The 25-year-old nearly threw a fourth pick on the Eagles’ final comeback attempt, but the ball was simply dropped by the defender and resulted in a turnover on downs instead. Despite the turnovers, the athletic QB still helped fantasy managers by combining for over 300 yards from scrimmage while recording his fourth game with a passing and rushing touchdown this year.

George Pickens
Wide Receiver, Pittsburgh Steelers

The Steelers had a bye this week

Logan Thomas
Tight End, Washington Commanders

Caught 1 of 1 targets for 2 yards
0.20 points

Thomas saw at least three targets in each of his previous four games this year, including 11 the week before in a loss to Chicago. He should see multiple targets Week 7 against the Giants but isn’t an especially trustworthy fantasy option even after a solid start to the season.

Jahan Dotson
Wide Receiver, Washington Commanders

Caught 0 of 1 targets
0 points

The speedster saw Terry McLaurin and Curtis Samuel combine for 10 receptions, 123 yards and a touchdown on 15 targets, making his lack of production all the more glaring. There were hopes that Dotson and fellow second-year pro Sam Howell would embark on parallel, interconnected tracks of success during the 2023 season, but the former sports a modest 17-140-1 line on 31 targets through six games and has been under 40 receiving yards in five consecutive contests. Dotson’s next opportunity to begin altering the course of his season for the better comes in a Week 7 divisional road clash with the Giants.
