Chasing New Goals

Share this article:

It’s always exciting to get to the end of a training block healthy and hungry for more. That’s exactly how I felt after I finished the 15k US Championships: not upset about my race, but definitely ready to get back out there and improve upon my performance. Luckily, I had the next goal lined up and ready: Carlsbad 5000 on April 2nd. Moving from 15k training to 5k training means that I will have a subtle shift away from 5:20ish pace work and toward 4:50ish pace work. I find 5k pace training to be the most difficult of any type, so I’m stoked for the challenge. I also have been itching to get a little bit more speed in my legs, so this will be the perfect opportunity.

Watch the video below to see my first 5k specific workout of the training block.
