Abby Steiner and Christian Coleman picked up two impressive wins at the Michael Johnson Invitational this past weekend.

Steiner and Coleman competed in the 200m, with Steiner winning her race with her time of 22.30, while Coleman took the win in the men’s 200m, running a time of 20.11. This was Steiner’s and Coleman’s second time competing in the 200m this season, recording wins in both meets.

Steiner found great success last season on the track as a member of the Kentucky Wildcats track and field team, as well as with Team USA. After winning the title in the 200m at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, she then won the USATF Outdoor Championship title in the same event, running a new personal best of 21.77. She won two gold medals at the World Championships in Eugene as a member of the 4×100 and 4×400 relay teams.

Coleman is looking to regain the championship form that helped him win the gold medal at the 2019 World Championships in Doha. At those championships, he ran a lifetime best of 9.76 in the men’s 100m to win the world title in the event.

In his first 200m race of the season at the Miramar Invitational on April 8, he won the event with a season’s best of 20.00. Coleman also holds the indoor world record in the men’s 60m with his time of 6.34 seconds.

I’m a sports journalist based in Florida and I’ve covered a couple of different sports so far early on in my career, but I love the sport of track and field and the art of running. Everyone has a story and everyone has a story worth telling. My prayer is that the stories of the great athletes of this sport are told, and that the sport grows to new creative heights, so that the sport gets the respect it deserves.
