Saturday’s historic performance at the SEC Outdoor Track and Field Championships proved that it’s Britton Wilson’s world, and we’re all just living in it.
The junior from Arkansas torched the track every time she stepped on it during the championships, saving her best for the finals of the women’s 400m and the women’s 400m hurdles. She won the 400m with a new world lead, collegiate record and lifetime best time of 49.13. Not too long after winning the 400m, she then took to the 400m hurdles and won the event with a fast time of 53.28, which is No. 4 all-time in the collegiate ranks. She won both races by over a second over her competitors.
Wilson’s performance helped the Razorbacks win the SEC Outdoor Championship title.
The incredible series of performances started on Friday in the preliminary rounds of the SEC Championships. Wilson first broke the NCAA record in the preliminary round of the women’s 400m, running 49.40 in the event, winning her heat. She’s broken 50 seconds in the women’s 400m three times so far this season.
Her performance in the 400m hurdles/400m at the championships is the best one-day performance in both events in history.
