The men’s 3000m will be a sight to see at the Millrose Games this indoor season.

World Athletics recently announced that the thrilling race will include some of the top names in middle distance running, including a rematch from last year’s race, which saw Geordie Beamish edge out Cooper Teare to win the event.

Beamish, who is a member of the On Athletics Club, won the race last year in a come-from-behind fashion. His time of 7:39.50 not only gave him the win, but also the New Zealand National record in the event. Beamish competed at the 2022 Outdoor World Championships in Eugene in the 5000m, as well as the 2022 Indoor World Championships in Belgrade.

Teare finished second to Beamish in the race last season at the Millrose Games. He told World Athletics that he was excited to get the opportunity to race at the Millrose Games again this season.

“I’m beyond excited to be returning to the Millrose Games to experience the electric crowds and fast times,” he said in the press release.

Teare was the USATF Outdoor National Champion in the 1500m last season and represented Team USA at the World Championships in Eugene. Teare was a member of the University of Oregon’s track and field team, and won the national title in the 5000m during the 2021 season. He also finished 4th at the 2020 Olympic Trials in the event.

Other notable names that will take part in the 3000m race at the Millrose Games include Olympic bronze medalist Josh Kerr, Luis Grijalva and Joe Kleckler just to name a few. The Millrose Games will be held in New York on February 11.

I’m a sports journalist based in Florida and I’ve covered a couple of different sports so far early on in my career, but I love the sport of track and field and the art of running. Everyone has a story and everyone has a story worth telling. My prayer is that the stories of the great athletes of this sport are told, and that the sport grows to new creative heights, so that the sport gets the respect it deserves.
