After being edged out by Noah Lyles at the New Balance Grand Prix last weekend in the 60m, Trayvon Bromell bounced back in a big way on Friday night.

Bromell ran a lifetime best time of 6.42 in the 60m at the Tiger Paw Invitational that was held at Clemson. His time was not only a lifetime best, but it’s the fastest time in the world this season, and the 6th fastest time ever recorded in the event.

Bromell admitted that he wasn’t pleased with his efforts in the 60m last weekend in Boston. At the Tiger Paw Invitational, Bromell ran 6.54 in the preliminary rounds, 6.46 in the semifinals, and then 6.42 in the final.

Bromell is slated to compete at next week’s USATF Indoor Championships.

Bromell is entering this track and field season looking to replicate, if not improve on the success that he achieved last season. He won a bronze medal in the 100m at the World Championships in Oregon last summer.

Here are the final results from the men’s 60m final.

6.42 – Trayvon Bromell (New Balance)

6.56 – Marcellus Moore (Texas)

6.59 – Sterling Warner-Savage (Louisville)

6.61 – Alex Lang (NC State)

6.62 – Azeem Fahmi (Auburn)

6.68 – Jordan Anthony (Kentucky)

DNS – Favour Ashe (Auburn)

DNS – Cole Beck (Virginia Tech)

I’m a sports journalist based in Florida and I’ve covered a couple of different sports so far early on in my career, but I love the sport of track and field and the art of running. Everyone has a story and everyone has a story worth telling. My prayer is that the stories of the great athletes of this sport are told, and that the sport grows to new creative heights, so that the sport gets the respect it deserves.
