Femke Bol is no stranger to having incredible performances on the big stage. On Sunday, she sprinted her way into the record books yet again with another historic performance.
Bol broke her own women’s indoor 400m world record at the Dutch Championships to win the national championships with her time of 49.24 seconds. She originally set the record last year, with her time of 49.26 in the event.
“I never get used to it, especially with all these people cheering on home soil,” Bol said in an interview after the race. “It’s a dream come true to run another world record and it’s wonderful to have all these Dutch fans enjoying the most beautiful sport in the world.”
Bol, who won the gold medal at the World Championships in Budapest in the women’s 400m hurdles, came into the Dutch Championships with the world lead in the women’s indoor 400m with her time of 49.63.
Bol will compete for the chance to win the world title in the event at the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Glasgow next month.
