After a fantastic and historic performance at the NCAA Indoor Championships in Albuquerque last weekend, Florida’s Jasmine Moore has earned USATF Athlete of the Week honors.
Moore competed in the long jump and the triple jump at the championships, and from the very first jump, she dominated the competition. She broke the American record in the triple jump, and also broke the collegiate record in both the long jump and triple jump, defending her indoor titles in both events from last season.
In the triple jump, Moore’s jump of 15.12m not only was good enough to break the American record and give her the win in the event, but it ranks No. 5 on the all-time indoor list, and is the best mark in the world this season.
In the long jump, Moore wasted no time making her mark in the competition. She broke the collegiate record in the event on her first attempt. Her 7.03m mark put her equal-third on the U.S. all-time indoor list in the event. Her jump was also the furthest jump in the world this season.
Moore is the second Gator track and field athlete to win the award, with Talitha Diggs winning the honor in February.
