One of the best sprinters in track and field history has a new sponsor.
On Monday afternoon, it was announced that Olympic silver medalist and world champion sprinter Fred Kerley signed with ASICS.
“I am excited to join the ASICS athlete roster and compete on behalf of the brand as one of the top sprinters in the world,” Kerley said in the official press release. “Ultimately, I hope to inspire more kids to participate in track and field. Partnering with ASICS will only help as we collectively aim to grow the sport into the future.”
Kerley, who was formerly with Nike, is one of the most well-rounded sprinters in track and field. He holds personal best times of 9.76 (100m), 19.76 (200m) and 43.64 (400m). With Wayde van Niekerk and Michael Norman, he is one of three athletes in the history of the sport to go sub-10, sub-20, and sub-44 seconds in the three events, respectively.
“Fred is a world class talent and an athlete that truly represents the ethos of the ASICS brand,” Ben Cesar, Director of Sports Marketing at ASICS North America, said in the press release. “We hope our partnership with Fred will help elevate ASICS’ product offering for athletes both on-and-off the track.”
Kerley is set to make his season debut this Thursday at the Maurie Plant Meet in Melbourne, Australia.
