There were many fast performances this past weekend in the sport of track and field. But two of the fastest times were run by Aleia Hobbs and Abby Steiner at the Razorback Invitational.
Hobbs ran a new personal best and a world leading time in the 60m with her time of 6.98. Her time ranks at the ninth fastest time ever run in the event.
Last season, Hobbs showed why she’s one of the best 100m sprinters in the world, running remarkable performances throughout the season. She ran a personal best time of 10.81 in the event at the USATF Outdoor Championships, and made the finals in the 100m at the World Championships a month later.
Abby Steiner continued her successful indoor campaign with an impressive win in the women’s 400m. She ran a new world lead in the event with her time of 50.59, holding off Shamier Little, who ran 50.64.
Steiner, who had a fantastic season last year that included winning two gold medals at the World Championships (4×100, 4×400) as well as the Bowerman Award, has had a fantastic indoor season so far. Having not run a 400m since high school, Steiner won her first two 400m races of the season, with both of her times being world leads.
Steiner will be competing at the Millrose Games in February in the women’s 300m.
