The best triple jumper in collegiate history is going pro.
On Thursday night, Jaydon Hibbert announced on Instagram that he would be foregoing his remaining collegiate eligibility and will turn his sights to the professional ranks, signing with the Preeminence Sport Group.
“UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS! You have been more than just a school to me, You’ve been a family,” he said in his official announcement on Instagram. “To all my coaches, teammates and professors, you’ve shaped me into the athlete and person I am today! You’ve instilled in me the RAZORBACK spirit which I’ll carry with me on my professional journey!
Thank You, University of Arkansas for the memories, the lessons and for shaping a kid with a dream into becoming a pro athlete. Here’s to the next adventure ….always carrying the spirit of the Razorback with me! Kickin’ it here always in Fayetteville, Arkansas.”
Hibbert was a force to be reckoned with during his time at the University of Arkansas. He broke the U20 world record, as well as the indoor and outdoor collegiate record in the triple jump. He won indoor and outdoor titles in the event as well.
Hibbert went undefeated on the year and represented Jamaica at the World Championships in Budapest in the event. He suffered an injury, which prevented him from competing in the finals.
He was the winner of the 2023 Bowerman Award, becoming the first Jamaican athlete to accomplish the achievement.
