Legendary track and field athletes highlight the College Track and Field / Cross Country Hall of Fame 2023 class

On Wednesday, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced the legendary 2023 class that will be inducted into the Collegiate Track and Field/Cross Country Hall of Fame.

Here are the list of athletes that make up this year’s class:

  • Dyrol Burleson (Oregon)
  • Michael Carter (SMU)
  • Joetta Clark (Tennessee)
  • Michael Conley (Arkansas)
  • Sheila Hudson (California)
  • Holly Hyche (Indiana State)
  • Edwin Moses (Morehouse)
  • Renaldo Nehemiah (Maryland)
  • Sonia O’Sullivan (Villanova)
  • Julie Shea (NC State)
  • Seilala Sua (UCLA)
  • John Thomas (Boston U.)
  • Wyomia Tyus (Tennessee State)
  • Dave Wottle (Bowling Green)

“We are thrilled to bring together these legendary athletes for a night of celebration and reflection on their incredible careers,” USTFCCCA President and Director of Track & Field and Cross Country at the University of Georgia, Caryl Smith Gilbert said in the official press release. “Their stories and achievements continue to inspire generations of athletes, and we are honored to recognize their contributions to the sport.”

The official ceremony will be held two days prior to the Prefontaine Classic in September, and that eligibility for this year’s class was limited to men who finished their college eligibility prior to 2000, and women who completed their eligibility prior to 2010.
