After some spirited trash talk over social media and in interviews over the past few months, the stage is now set for some of the world’s best.
The sprint world is set to experience what should be a very entertaining series of races in the men’s 100m in late May through early June, as American superstars in the event set to race 2020 Tokyo Olympic gold medalist Marcell Jacobs in the event.
The first of three big matchups that will showcase Jacobs competing against America’s best in the 100m, as well as other talented 100m athletes from around the world will take place in Rabat, as Jacobs, along with 100m world champion Fred Kerely and two-time 100m world bronze medalist Trayvon Bromell headline the field.
Kerley, Bromell and Jacobs will then face off just a few days later at the Golden Gala Pietro Mennea in Florence, Italy. After the competition in Florence, Jacobs will then head to Paris to compete against Noah Lyles on June 9. Letsile Tebogo and Ferdinand Omanyala will also be in the field of athletes that will compete against Lyles and Jacobs.
Jacobs comes into the race with a personal best time in the 100m of 9.80 seconds. Kerley and Bromell both hold personal best times in the 100m of 9.76 seconds. Lyles’ personal best in the event is 9.86 seconds.
