After two remarkable early season performances, Britton Wilson of Arkansas and Matthew Boling of Georgia were named the USTFCCCA National Athletes of the Week.
Boling started off his junior campaign by running the No. 3 fastest time in collegiate history in the 300m. He ran a new personal best of 32.40 at the Clemson Invitational this past weekend. Only Jacory Patterson (31.99) and Torrin Lawrence (32.32) have run faster in the event.
Boling achieved this honor last year for his performance at the same meet.
Wilson started off the season just as she finished it last year, very fast. Wilson, who was a member of the 2022 World Championships gold medal 4×400 relay squad last summer, broke Athing Mu’s record in the 600m with her time of 1:25.80. With her performance, she’s now the seventh fastest American to ever run the event, and No. 10 all-time in the event.
Later on in the meet, Wilson was a part of the Arkansas women’s 4x400m that won the event. She ran a 51.60 split on her leg.
According to USTFCCCA, Wilson is only the second female athlete from Arkansas during the indoor season to be named M-F Athletic National Athlete of the Week. Katie Izzo achieved this accomplishment in December of 2019.
