Matthew Boling is ready for the big stage and to accomplish all of his goals in the sport of track and field.
Boling announced on Tuesday that after three seasons competing for the University of Georgia, he would be foregoing his remaining collegiate eligibility and will turn pro.
“I started this when I was 12 years old,” Boling said in his official announcement on Instagram. From Houston, Texas to Athens, Georgia, my dreams have stayed the same. With that being said, I will be foregoing my last year of eligibility and turning professional to focus on my Olympic dreams. My time at the University of Georgia has been amazing and I want to thank everyone who has helped me along the way. A new chapter begins.”
As a member of the Bulldogs track and field team, Boling won two indoor national titles in the men’s 200m (2021, 2023). Boling was a member of this year’s world championship team that competed in Budapest. He was a member of Team USA’s world-record setting mixed-relay team that took home the gold at those championships.
Boling, who had announced an NIL deal with Merrell 2022, has yet to announce a shoe sponsor, but the talented sprinter will train under Alleyne Francique, who formerly trained Fred Kerley. He will be represented by HAWI Management.
