Two of the greatest athletes in track and field history will toe the line next weekend in what promises to be a fun matchup in the women’s 60m.

It was announced on Tuesday that Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone and Shericka Jackson will headline the women’s 60m field at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix.

McLaughlin-Levrone has set the standard in the women’s 400m hurdles. She hasn’t lost a race in the last two seasons, and she’s recorded the six fastest times in the history of the event. She took home gold medals in the 400m hurdles and in the 4×400 relay last summer in Oregon at the World Championships. Her winning time of 50.68 in the 400m hurdles last summer is the fastest time ever in the event. This will be her first time running the 60m.

Jackson was a force to be reckoned with in the women’s 200m. Last summer at the World Championships in Oregon, she won the event with her time of 21.45, which is the second fastest time ever in the event. The talented athlete from Jamaica also took home a silver medal in the women’s 100m, and in the 4×100 relay.

Other notable athletes who will take part in the event are sprinters Mikiah Brisco and Aleia Hobbs. The NBIGP will take place on Feb. 4.

I’m a sports journalist based in Florida and I’ve covered a couple of different sports so far early on in my career, but I love the sport of track and field and the art of running. Everyone has a story and everyone has a story worth telling. My prayer is that the stories of the great athletes of this sport are told, and that the sport grows to new creative heights, so that the sport gets the respect it deserves.
