One of the best athletes in sports is set to make her “This is Sportscenter” debut this weekend.
On Friday, it was announced that Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone would star in the SportsCenter commercial, and it would be released on Saturday evening during the North Carolina/Duke rivalry game. The commercial also features ESPN anchor, Hannah Storm.
The most recent track and field athlete to participate and appear in the series of commercials on ESPN was Usain Bolt in 2010. Bolt is still the fastest sprinter in track and field history, holding world records in the 100m, 200m as well as the 4×100 relay.
Like Bolt, McLaughlin-Levrone has separated herself when it comes to pure domination in the sport of track and field. She owns six of the fastest times ever recorded in the 400m hurdles, and she hasn’t lost a race in the past two seasons.
Last season at the World Championships in Oregon, she broke her own world record, running 50.68 in the 400m hurdles to win the gold medal. She also took home a gold medal in the 4×400 relay.
She will be lacing up her spikes in Boston on Saturday at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix, as she’s set to make her debut in the 60m.
