One of the best high school track and field athletes in the country is leaving Oregon and headed to Southern California for her collegiate track and field career.
High school sprint sensation Mia Brahe-Pedersen announced her commitment to the University of Southern California to run collegiately on Friday morning.
“I’m beyond grateful to announce my commitment to the University of Southern California to continue my academic and athletic careers for the next four years,” she said in her official announcement on Instagram. “The decision wasn’t easy, because all the programs I’ve been talking to are incredible, but in the end I’ve never been more sure about anything. I couldn’t be more excited about this opportunity!! Those of y’all who know me personally, know that I’ve had the hardest time keeping this a secret, and that USC has been my dream since I started running track in 6th grade.”
Brahe-Pedersen had a fantastic junior year on the track last season. She finished seventh overall in the women’s 100m at the USATF Outdoor Championships last summer, and has a personal best time of 11.00 seconds overall in the women’s 100m and a personal best time of 22.43 in the women’s 200m.
She competed at the NACAC U23 Championships that were held in Costa Rica, winning the women’s 100m and 200m.
