Talitha Diggs lit up the track last weekend with her electrifying performance in the 400m. Her winning time of 50.15 was fast enough to break the American and NCAA record in the event.
Now, she’s receiving high honors for her remarkable accomplishment.
On Wednesday, it was announced that the talented runner from the University of Florida received USATF Athlete of the Week honors after her record-breaking performance at the SEC Indoor Track and Field Championships last weekend.
Diggs is no stranger to having great performances on the big stage. Last season, she won the 400m at the USATF Outdoor Championships and was a member of the 4×400 relay team that won the gold medal at the World Championships in Oregon.
Diggs also has the fastest time in the indoor 200m in the U.S. with her time of 22.61.
In addition to winning USATF Athlete of the week honors, Diggs also won the co–USTFCCCA Athlete of the week honors, along with Julien Alfred of Texas, who set the NCAA record in the 60m at the Big 12 Indoor Track and Field Championships with her time of 6.97.
Kendall Ellis previously held the indoor American record in the 400m prior to Diggs breaking it last weekend.
