The indoor track and field season is just around the corner, and the anticipation is building for what could be a very entertaining indoor track and field season. The action will kick off in January, and some of the world’s best athletes are set to face off in a high-level indoor track and field meet.

It was recently announced that Andre De Grasse, Mondo Duplantis and Gudaf Tsegay will be among some of the elite athletes who will compete at the Astana Indoor Meet, which according to World Athletics, is the first indoor meet in Asia.

De Grasse is a Canadian legend when it comes to the sprint scene on the track. He’s the defending Olympic gold medalist in the men’s 200m with his spectacular win at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.

Duplantis will look to continue his dominant ways in a new season of action. Duplantis once again, broke his own world record at the Prefontaine Classic last summer and also won the gold medal in the men’s pole vault at last year’s World Championships in Budapest.

Tsegay brought the house down at the Prefontaine Classic with her world record run in the women’s 5000m, and she’ll be looking to carry the momentum into this season. She also took home the gold medal in the women’s 10,000m at the World Championships in Budapest.

The indoor meet is a part of the World Athletics Indoor Gold Tour, and will be held on Jan. 27.

I’m a sports journalist based in Florida and I’ve covered a couple of different sports so far early on in my career, but I love the sport of track and field and the art of running. Everyone has a story and everyone has a story worth telling. My prayer is that the stories of the great athletes of this sport are told, and that the sport grows to new creative heights, so that the sport gets the respect it deserves.
