USATF announces official roster for the 2023 World Championships in Budapest

On Monday’s, USATF officially announced the full national team roster that will represent Team USA at the World Athletic Championships in Budapest that’s set to take place starting Aug. 19.

The talented roster will try to match the historic success that they achieved at last year’s World Championships that were held in Eugene, Oregon. Team USA won 33 medals, with 13 gold medals, 9 silver medals and 11 bronze medals. They also won the first ever World Athletics Team Trophy with their performance.

Team USA will have a number of athletes who will compete in multiple events, including the relays. Some of the most notable athletes who are entered in multiple events include Elise Cranny, who won the women’s 5000m and 10,000m national titles in July. Alicia Monson and Natosha Rogers will also double in both events.

Noah Lyes and Sha’Carri Richardson are also entered in the 100m/200m, respectively.

Other notable notes from Team USA’s official roster include the men’s 400m, where defending world champion Michael Norman is listed in the event. Norman, who dealt with an injury earlier this season, missed out on making the team in the men’s 100m, will look to defend his title in the event.

The women’s 400m, includes three of the best runners in SEC history. Former Kentucky standout Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone headlines the field, and she’ll be joined by former Arkansas Razorback and NCAA 400m record holder Britton Wilson, as well as last season’s NCAA 400m champion and former Florida Gator, Talitha Diggs.

The World Championships will take place from August 19-27. For the full Team USA roster, view below (courtesy of the USATF website), or click here: Team USA official World Championship roster

I’m a sports journalist based in Florida and I’ve covered a couple of different sports so far early on in my career, but I love the sport of track and field and the art of running. Everyone has a story and everyone has a story worth telling. My prayer is that the stories of the great athletes of this sport are told, and that the sport grows to new creative heights, so that the sport gets the respect it deserves.
