The start of the outdoor season is underway, and the performances on the track and in the field are as hot as the Florida weather in July.
A number of the best athletes in the sport of track and field have kicked off their 2023 campaigns, and so far, the times on the track and the marks in the field have been quite impressive to say the least.
On Friday, Valarie Allman added to what has already been a remarkable start to the season from her. The Olympic champion recorded a throw of 70.25m at the UC San Diego Triton Invitational, which gave her the win in the event. Her mark gave her the world lead in the event, and it’s her sixth throw beyond 70m of her career.
Allman also has the American record in the discus with her mark of 71.46m.
Aleia Hobbs carried over the momentum that she gained from the indoor season to the outdoor season with her speedy 100m performance on Saturday. She ran a new world leading time of 10.87 in the women’s 100m at the Lloyd Wills Invitational that was held at LSU.
Hobbs won the US Indoor Championships in the 60m with her electrifying time of 6.94, which was tied for the fastest time in the world this season. Her time on Saturday was the fifth fastest time of her career.
