After an incredible year full of great performers and performances in track and field, it’s now time to vote to see who is the athlete of the year.
Earlier this week, World Athletics released the nominees for Men’s World Athlete of the Year and Women’s World Athlete of the Year. The list is made up of world champions, world-record holders and athletes who delivered incredible performances throughout the season.
For the men, the nominees are:
- Pedro Pichardo (triple jump)
- Anderson Peters (javelin)
- Noah Lyles (200m)
- Jakob Ingebrigtsen (5k, 1500m)
- Soufiane El Bakkali (steeplechase)
- Kristjan Ceh (discus)
- Grant Holloway (110m hurdles)
- Alison dos Santos (400mh)
- Eliud Kipchoge (marathon)
- Mondo Duplantis (pole vault)
For the women, the nominees are:
- Chase Ealey (shot put)
- Kimberly Garcia (race walk)
- Yaroslava Mahuchikh (high jump)
- Yulimar Rojas (triple jump)
- Faith Kipyegon (1500m)
- Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce (100m)
- Shaunae Miller-Uibo (400m)
- Tobi Amusan (100m hurdles)
- Shericka Jackson (200m)
- Sydney McLaughlin (400m hurdles, 4×400 relay)
The finalists for the awards will be announced after voting ends (Oct. 31) and the winners will be announced in early December.
