Some of the sport’s brightest stars shine bright at the World Championships in Budapest, which took place from August 19-27. 14 of those stars will take their talents to Zurich and compete in the Diamond League meeting.

The meet is scheduled for Thursday afternoon, and it’s shaping up to be one of the best meets of the season. Here are a few athletes to watch headed into the meet.

Noah Lyles showed that he’s the current king of the sprints at the World Championships in Budapest. Lyles took home three gold medals (men’s 100m, 200m, 4x100m), making him the first man since 2015 to accomplish the accolade. Usain Bolt accomplished the accolade at the 2015 World Championships in Beijing. Lyles is set to compete in the men’s 200m, where he will face off against a talented field that includes Erriyon Knighton and Zharnel Hughes.

Danielle Williams took home the women’s 100m hurdle title in Budapest, and she’s looking to continue her success on Thursday in Zurich. She’s slated to compete in the women’s 100m hurdles, and she will face off against a talented group of hurdlers that include this year’s World Championship silver and bronze medalist Jasmine Camacho-Quinn and Kendra Harrison, respectively.

Mondo Duplantis will look to continue his dominance at the Zurich DL meeting as well in the men’s pole vault. He will face off against World Championship silver and shared bronze medalists Ernest Obiena and Chris Nilsen/Kurtis Marschall respectively.

The meet will air on NBC Sports on Thursday at 2pm ET.

I’m a sports journalist based in Florida and I’ve covered a couple of different sports so far early on in my career, but I love the sport of track and field and the art of running. Everyone has a story and everyone has a story worth telling. My prayer is that the stories of the great athletes of this sport are told, and that the sport grows to new creative heights, so that the sport gets the respect it deserves.
