Britton Wilson announced that she is going to miss the upcoming Olympic Trials due to a lingering injury.

Wilson, last year’s second place finisher at both the NCAA and USA Championships in the 400 meters, was a solid contender to make the team for the upcoming Paris Olympics.

The news came via an Instagram post from her agency, HSI. In the release, Britton provides a statement, “My long-term goals are big, and I know I will reach them once I am truly healed. I can’t wait to be back on the track, but for now I’ll need some time off…This is not my Olympics, but my Olympics is coming.”

In her latest Road to TrackTown episode (watch below), Wilson spoke about her time navigating the injury.

Wilson has consistently been a name to watch since her time at the University of Arkansas, where she won an two NCAAs title in the (2022 Outdoor 400mH and 2023 Indoor 400m). At the 2022 World Championships in Eugene, she finished fifth in the same event, and earned a gold medal as part of Team USA’s 4×400 relay team. Showing her prowess beyond the hurdles, in 2023, Britton was the first North American woman to break the 50-second barrier in the indoor 400m and only the second woman ever to run under 49.50. She holds personal best times of 53.08 (400mH) and 49.13 (400m).
