In the final event of the day’s action on Tuesday, Gabby Thomas closed the show in epic fashion.
Starting in lane 7 with Julien Alfred on her right in lane 8, Thomas needed just 21.83 seconds to bring the gold medal back to the USA. She came out of the blocks hot and already had the lead through the turn. On the final straightaway, Thomas could not be caught and ran through the line as Olympic Champion.
