Gabby Thomas Wins Olympic Gold in 200 Meters

In the final event of the day’s action on Tuesday, Gabby Thomas closed the show in epic fashion.

Starting in lane 7 with Julien Alfred on her right in lane 8, Thomas needed just 21.83 seconds to bring the gold medal back to the USA. She came out of the blocks hot and already had the lead through the turn. On the final straightaway, Thomas could not be caught and ran through the line as Olympic Champion.

Saint Lucia’s Julien Alfred, who won gold in the 100m just days prior, finished in silver position and the USA’s Brittany Brown rounded out the podium, finishing with the bronze medal.

This win earned Thomas an Olympic medal of every kind. At the Tokyo Games she earned silver with the 4x100m team in addition to an individual bronze in the 200m at those Games.
