The TCS New York City Marathon has revealed a world-class line up for this year’s event, led by defending champions and recent Olympic medalists Tamirat Tola and Hellen Obiri.

Tamirat Tola, who set a course record of 2:04:58 in last year’s edition, comes into the race with a new accolade as the reigning Olympic champion. In a remarkable turn of events, Tola secured the Olympic marathon gold in Paris with a Games record of 2:06:26, despite being a late addition to the Ethiopian team just two weeks before the event.

Conner Mantz and Clayton Young, who finished eighth and ninth respectively in the Olympic marathon, will lead the charge on the men’s side for the USA.

In the women’s race, Hellen Obiri returns as the defending champion and one of the most decorated athletes in the field. The Kenyan superstar, a three-time Olympic medalist and seven-time world medalist, made history last year by becoming the first woman in 34 years to win both the Boston and New York City Marathons in the same year. In 2024, she successfully defended her Boston title and went on to claim bronze at the Olympic marathon.

Leading the American women’s contingent is Dakotah Lindwurm, the top U.S. finisher at the Paris Olympics, as she takes on her third marathon of the year.
