Jakob Ingebrigtsen sets two world records in Lievin
Yesterday at the Meeting Hauts-de-France Pas-de-Calais in Liévin, France, Jakob Ingebrigtsen set new indoor world records in both the 1500 meters and the mile. He completed the 1500 meters in 3:29.63, becoming the first person to run sub-3:30 indoors, en route to finishing the mile in 3:45.14, surpassing Yared Nuguse’s previous record of 3:46.63 set just days earlier. Whereas Nuguse had Hobbs Kessler in stride with him for the mile record set at Millrose, Ingebritsen was alone with 500 meters to go once the pace setters left the track. Six Challengers announced for opening Grand Slam Track meet
Grand Slam Track has announced the signing of six prominent Jamaican athletes as the first group of Challengers for the Kingston Slam, scheduled to kick off on April 4 at the National Stadium in Kingston, Jamaica. The athletes are all hurdle and sprint specialists, and include Olympic champion Hansle Parchment, world champion Danielle Williams, national champion Malik James-King, world U20 champion Alana Reid, Olympic finalist Orlando Bennett, and Olympic finalist Shiann Salmon.
Keely Hodgkinson pulls out of Keely Klassic with hamstring injury
Though she had been planning to make an attempt at the long-standing, controversial 800m world record at the event, a hamstring injury is keeping Olympic Champion Keely Hodgkinson from competing at her inaugural namesake event this weekend. In a post to Instagram, she said, “Unfortunately after a great week of preparations for this weekend, yesterday I picked up a hamstring injury, which means I’ll have to sit this one out this weekend and not compete…BUT, this event was never just about me. From the start, it was about bringing fresh energy to our sport, celebrating British talent, and connecting with the next generation of fans.”
Athletic Brewing named title sponsor for Rock N Roll Las Vegas
Athletic Brewing Company has been named the Official Non-Alcoholic Beer of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series and the title partner of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Las Vegas event. This multi-year partnership will bring Athletic Brewing’s non-alcoholic craft beers to participants across the series.
Grand Blue Mile to play host to USATF Road Mile Championships
The 2025 USATF 1 Mile Championships will return to Des Moines on April 22, as part of the Grand Blue Mile. The top two male and female finishers will qualify for Team USATF to compete at the 2025 World Athletics Road Running Championships in San Diego from September 26-28. Athletes will vie for a first-place prize of $10,000, the largest for a road mile in the US, with additional bonuses available for American and World Record performances.
