Lyles, Holloway, and Valby set for New Balance Indoor GP
The New Balance Indoor Grand Prix has announced their official start lists for the upcoming meet. Taking place on Sunday, the event is the third stop on the World Athletics Indoor Continental Tour Gold schedule. We will get to see returning champions Noah Lyles and Grant Holloway in the 60m and 60m hurdles, respectively, and Parker Valby will make her pro debut in a New Balance kit in the 3000m. You can watch live in the United States on NBC and Peacock on Sunday, February 2 from 4PM ET.
Jadyn Mays signs NIL deal with Nike
The University of Oregon 10-time All-American announced on Instagram that she has signed an NIL deal with Nike. Mays follows University of Georgia’s Aaliyah Butler as recent sprinter signees by the brand as we get into the heart of indoor season.
USATF Indoor Championships have $1000 seating option
The 2025 USA Track & Field Indoor Championships are scheduled for February 22–23 at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island, New York. Tickets are now available, with standard options ranging from $20 to $65 for general admission to home straightaway seats. Additionally, a premium package priced at $1000 offers exclusive benefits, including VIP seating, athlete meet-and-greets, and complimentary merchandise.
India increasing interest in bid for 2036 Games
India is intensifying its efforts to host the 2036 Olympics in Ahmedabad by bidding for several international sporting events, including the 2028 U-20 World Athletics Championships. A letter of intent has been submitted to World Athletics President Sebastian Coe, and discussions between central and Gujarat state officials have explored hosting other major events like the Commonwealth Games. Plans are also underway to address challenges, such as Gujarat’s monsoon season during the typical Olympic window, and to enhance infrastructure, including relaxing liquor permit regulations and attracting top-tier hotel chains to the state.
Robots to race humans in half-marathon in China
In April, Beijing will host a half-marathon featuring humanoid robots competing alongside 12,000 human runners. Organized by the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area (E-Town), the event requires participating robots to have a human-like appearance, utilize bipedal locomotion, and stand between 0.5 and 2 meters tall; both remote-controlled and autonomous robots are permitted, with mid-race battery replacements allowed due to anticipated power limitations. This race marks the first time humanoid robots will attempt the full 13.1-mile distance.
