Sandi Morris to skip indoor championships
The two-time pole vault World Champion posted to Instagram yesterday that she and her team have, “decided to save my bullets for this upcoming outdoor season and skip indoor.” Morris last competed at the Brussels Diamond League meeting in September, and will open her season at the Doha meet in May. She recently made the move to Kentucky to train and serve as a program volunteer for the University of Louisville’s track and field team.
100-mile USATF Champion Rajpaul Pannu disqualified for illegal shoes
Ultrarunner Rajpaul Pannu was disqualified from the 2025 USATF 100-mile Road Championships after winning the race, due to wearing shoes that exceeded the maximum allowable stack height of 40 mm. Pannu wore HOKA Skyward X shoes, which have a heel stack height of 48 mm and a forefoot height of 43 mm, surpassing the limit by 8 mm. He is not protesting the decision, stating on Instagram, “My actions weren’t intentional, as I never imagined my shoes wouldn’t allow me to register an official USATF time.” The championship title was subsequently awarded to Cody Poskin.
Jenny Simpson making progress through 50 state running tour
Jenny Simpson is nearly two months into the Run USA tour, a 50-week journey visiting all 50 states to celebrate running, travel, and community. She began the tour in Florida on January 7 before making a route through the southeast, with her most recent stop at the Austin Half Marathon, and will be jumping from Oklahoma to Alaska in the coming weeks. Simpson announced her retirement from elite competition at this past year’s New York City Marathon.
Noah Lyles bullish about impact of race with Tyreek Hill
After years of back and forth, Noah Lyles and Tyreek Hill have agreed to race, with details still as yet to be determined. While there has been some skepticism around the decision to do so, Lyles believes it could be a watershed moment for the sport by putting an NFL superstar on the line with the world’s fastest man. He told NBC News, “Track and field has a great reputation inside of the Olympics, but in the marketing sense, when it comes to the U.S., it’s just fallen short a few too many times…I want to be more than just a runner because there’s enough runners. But who’s the performers?” Lyles continued by stating that he does not intend to go light on Hill, saying “So Tyreek better be ready, because if a world record gets dropped on his head, he ain’t gonna be able to hear nothing.”
Nike and Skims to co-create new brand
Kim Kardashian’s shapewear brand, Skims, has partnered with Nike to launch NikeSkims, a new activewear line blending Nike’s performance technology with Skims’ focus on inclusivity and design. This collaboration is a strategic move to boost Nike’s appeal to female consumers, competing with brands like Lululemon, while leveraging Skims’ strong brand identity. The initial product line, featuring apparel, footwear, and accessories, is set to debut in select U.S. stores and online this spring, with a global rollout planned for 2026.
