Noah Lyles has proven himself dominant in the outdoor sprints, and now, he’s showcased his skillset in the indoor scene with an incredible performance at the U.S. Indoor Championships on Saturday.
Lyles took part in the men’s 60m, and in the finals, he took down the men’s 60m world-record holder Christian Coleman in a thrilling race, edging Coleman at the line to win with a new world-leading time of 6.43, which was also his personal best. Coleman finished as the runner-up with his time of 6.44.
Lyles burst onto the indoor scene this year and has run personal bests in the two indoor competitions that he’s run. At the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix in Boston in early February, he ran the previous world leading time of 6.44, which was a new personal best for Lyles prior to his performance on Saturday.
“I have waited and worked for 8 years to see the numbers I have produced this year in the 60m. I’m so glad it’s finally here,” Lyles said on social media after the race.
Lyles and Coleman will represent Team USA in the men’s 60m at the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Glasgow, which kicks off on March 1.
