Eilish McColgan Launches ‘Giving Back to Track’

On International Women’s Day, Eilish McColgan, the British 5000m record holder, announced the launch of her foundation, Giving Back to Track, with fellow Olympian Michael Rimmer.

In a thread on Twitter, McColgan stated that there was ‘No better time to launch’ the non-profit, as their aim is to ‘encourage youngsters into athletics and to help fund the next generation of female athletes.’ The thread went on to introduce a scholarship intended for five recipients to receive financial support, training kits and shoes, and ‘plenty more’. The recipients will be ‘young, female, Scottish athletes’.

In addition to the British 5000m record, McColgan is a three-time Olympian, having competed in London, Rio, and Tokyo, and is a European Championship medalist (2017: Indoor 3000m Bronze; 2018: Outdoor 5000m Silver). Fun Fact: Eilish’s 10k PR is just one second different than her mother’s PR, who was a Silver medalist at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul.
