Another world record for Mondo
Mondo Duplantis set a new pole vault world record of 6.27m at the All Star Perche meet in Clermont-Ferrand, France, marking the 11th time he has broken the record. He cleared all his heights, including 6.27m, on his first attempt. The event also featured the debut of his song, Bop, which played during his record jump, adding a personal flair to the achievement. This milestone continues his streak of raising the world record by one centimeter at a time dating back to his first record breaking vault in February 2020.
Hauger-Thackery and Kiptoo earn Gate River Run titles; course record for Kiptoo
Wesley Kiptoo won the 2025 Gate River Run 15K in Jacksonville, Florida, setting a new course record of 42:10, and Calli Hauger-Thackery claimed the women’s title in 47:24. The prior course record time of 42:22 was set by Todd Williams in 1995. This was the first time since 1993 that the race did not play host to the USATF 15k road championships, and rather was part of the PRRO Circuit. The move resulted in a much larger international competition than is typically seen at the annual race.
Amanda Moll sets collegiate pole vault record
On Friday at the Big Ten Indoor Championships in Indianapolis, Washington’s Amanda Moll set a new collegiate record in the women’s pole vault by clearing 4.91 meters (16-1.25). This achievement surpassed her previous record of 4.88 meters set two weeks earlier. Notably, this mark positions her among the top American indoor pole vaulters, with only Jenn Suhr, Sandi Morris, and Katie Moon having achieved similar heights. During the same event, her twin sister and teammate, Hana Moll, secured second place with a personal best of 4.81 meters, now ranking her second in NCAA history behind Amanda.
Taylor Roe, Alex Maier earn USATF Half Marathon titles
At the USATF Half Marathon Championships in Atlanta on Sunday, Alex Maier won the men’s race in 1:00:48 and Taylor Roe claimed the women’s title in 1:07:22, both earning their first national championships. Shadrack Kipchirchir (1:00:58) and Hillary Bor (1:00:59) rounded out the men’s podium, while Emma Grace Hurley (1:07:35) and Amanda Vestri (1:08:17) took second and third in the women’s race. The top three finishers in each race secured spots on Team USA for the upcoming World Athletics Road Running Championships in San Diego.
Heather MacLean runs second fastest U.S. mile all-time
Heather MacLean ran a 4:17.01 mile at the Boston University Last Chance Indoor Qualifier, making her the second-fastest American woman ever at the distance behind Elle St. Pierre. During the race, she also set a new American indoor 1500m record with a split of 3:59.60, breaking Regina Jacobs’ 2003 mark.
