The last couple years have been…different for me. In 2021, I decided to step away from my spot on the Brooks Beasts (professional running team) and focus on my mental and physical health in an effort to end a vicious injury cycle and extend my running career. In 2022, I started training again in my own way, at my own pace, and I was able to do some races. Although I got back on the track and roads, I wasn’t able to stay consistent with my training and racing throughout the year. Now, in 2023, I feel more ready than ever to take on new challenges. My training has been consistently for 5 months, and I’ve found a new style of training that seems to be the perfect balance of intensity, low-impact volume, and strength and injury prevention.
It’s hard for me to contain my excitement about beginning my racing calendar. It’s been so long since I had a full season (since college due to covid and injuries), so creating one and working (with a coach) to write training around it has been incredible. Watch the video below to see how I’m preparing for my next race and what the first two races on my schedule are.
