The balmy temperatures were no match for the great competition on the cross country course that took place in Tallahassee, Florida on Saturday.
The USATF Club Cross Country Championships took place at the Apalachee Regional Park on Saturday morning. Amanda Vestri came away with the win in the women’s field, and Tai Dinger ran to the top spot in the men’s field.
Vestri took home her first win as a professional athlete. Vestri, who runs for ZAP Endurance, led the 6k race from the start and never looked back, as she secured the win in 20:06.3. Claire Green finished in second place with a time of 20:20.4, while Maya Weigel finished third with 20:22.8.
Dinger earned the win in the men’s division in a very competitive 10k race. Dinger, Ryan Kutch and Chris Maxon traded leads throughout the race, but it was Dinger who took control toward the end of the race, and he used a strong finish to run a winning time of 30:48. Kutch finished in second place with a time of 30:55.4, while Maxon finished in third place with 30:58.2.
In the team results, for the women, Peninsula Distance Club earned the top finish with Hansons-Brooks ODP, and Pacers Running rounding out the podium. For the men, San Diego TC was the team champion, followed by Minnesota Distance Elite, and the Wisconsin Runner Racing Team.
