Lashinda Demus took home the silver medal in a hard-fought battle in the women’s 400m hurdles final at the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
10 years later, it appears that Demus will be in line for a medal upgrade.
Natalya Antyukh of Russia has had her results from 2012 until 2013 disqualified, including the 2012 Olympics where she took gold in the 400m hurdles, edging out Demus by .07 seconds.
Antyukh had been serving a ban since last year for a doping case that was revealed in the 2016 McLaren report.
After the race in 2012, Demus told Lewis Johnson that she wouldn’t stop until she got the gold medal in the event. Now, 10 years later, it’s coming to fruition.
