April has proven to be an insane month on the track and in the field, and the competition is ramping up on the high school level.

High school programs across the country have transitioned into post-season competition, which means soon and very soon, state champions will be crowned.

In Orlando, one of the best teams in the state of Florida, Montverde Academy’s boys and girls team took home the district championship with incredible performances from their star athletes, such as junior Micayah Holland, who ran 11.32 (+2.2) in the 100m and 23.66 (+3.2) in the 200, and Zyaire Nuriddin, who ran 10.24 (+3.1) in the 100m, 21.05 (+2.3) in the 200m, 47.34 in the 400m and casually dropped a 44.2 in his leg of the 4×400 relay.

But these athletes were not the only ones to scorch the track at the district championship meet. Be sure to to check out Dom’s recap and coverage from the district championship meet, and check out a few of the faster race videos from the day as well.

I’m a sports journalist based in Florida and I’ve covered a couple of different sports so far early on in my career, but I love the sport of track and field and the art of running. Everyone has a story and everyone has a story worth telling. My prayer is that the stories of the great athletes of this sport are told, and that the sport grows to new creative heights, so that the sport gets the respect it deserves.
