In a much anticipated return to the 400 meter hurdles, Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone is scheduled to run the event at the Edwin Moses Legends Meet on May 31, her first time since 2022.
McLaughlin-Levrone last contested the 400mH in August of 2022 in Hungary, two weeks after setting the world record at the World Championships in Eugene. Since that time, she has opted for hurdle-less races, running a single 60m and five 400m races in 2023 (including a 48.74 second performance for the win at that year’s USATF Outdoor Championships).
Thus far in 2024, Sydney has run 100s and 200s, most recently doubling at the Oxy Invitational at the beginning of May, and a swift 22.07 into a headwind at the LA Grand Prix last weekend. At the latter, McLaughlin-Levrone was originally scheduled to race the 400m hurdles, but changed to the 200 in the weeks leading up to the meet.
