Trayvon Bromell Injured at Savona Meet in Italy

In his second competition of the outdoor season, Trayvon Bromell pulled up approximately 30 meters ahead of the finish line of the 100 meter final at the Savona International Meeting in Italy.

He ran 10.34 in the heats earlier in the day to advance to the final. In that final race, he was in contention for the win, but at 70 meters in, Bromell pulled up grabbing at his left leg just below his hip.

Dealing with injury is nothing new for Bromell. He later posted to an Instagram story, “Never question the things that happen, because it all happens for a reason. Been down this road before. We pick up and move. All praise to the most high God!”

In 2016, Bromell made it to the Rio Olympics but suffered a severe Achilles injury during the 4×100 meter relay final, which required surgery, causing him to miss the nearly the entire 2017 and 2018 seasons, returning to competition in 2019. Through it all Bromell continued to push to get back to the track strong and healthy, earning a spot on Team USA for the 2021 Olympics in Tokyo, in addition to winning a bronze medal at the 2022 World Championships (100 meters). After the USA Championships in 2023, he shut down his season to have season-ending surgery for a bone spur in his right foot.

We wish the best for Bromell that this is a minor setback to his 2024 campaign.
